Tuesday was mostly taken up with driving down. We decided to go the scenic route and drove through the Peak District National park on a beautifully fine and sunny day….it was lovely! Eventually we hit Chesterfield and the M1 and used the sat nav to negotiate the London streets….past the Oval and Lords cricket grounds and speakers corner…..I never realised Park Lane was so long!!!!!…..until we arrived at our holiday appartment block in Deptford Bridge. Finished off the day with a meal of Spanish tapas in the onsite restaraunt.
Wednesday was our first full day of holiday, so after buying our Oyster cards, we set off on the DLR to Greenwich. DH can’t go anywhere without a CAMRA publication, so we decided to base our day on one of their ‘London Pub Walks’ fitting in a visit to the Cutty Sark on the way round.
Across the road from the Meridian line was another Greenwich pub on our walk, the Plume of Feathers. This was a lovely, traditional pub and was very friendly.
We were very tired after all this….a good job I took my comfy shoes……so made our way back to the DLR and an evening in.
